ACF dedicates proceeds from pork contest to Hope Fund

All of the proceeds from an upcoming pork cooking contest hosted by the American Culinary Federation’s local chapter will be donated to the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund, organizers today announced.

The Aug. 10 Taste of Elegance competition, sponsored by South Carolina Pork Producers, will feature a dozen chefs “shar(ing) creative ways to cook with pork.” The winner will receive a $1000 cash prize, as well as an invitation to next year’s Pork Summit. The event at Trident Technical College’s North Charleston campus is open to the public; tickets are $20.

Tara Welsh of ACF’s Greater Charleston chapter says the group is still looking for chefs to compete by serving 250-300 samples of their entrees. Interested chefs should call Ed Bass at (800)308-6549.
