Accent on Wine & More opens on East Montague in North Charleston

It’s a family affair with Sarah Schaefer, with help from her son, Jack, 7, bringing in supplies during an afternoon at Accent on Wine & More, a new Park Circle area location of an existing Summerville wine shop and bar.

If there was a problem with Younesse Alami’s monthly menu takeovers at Maya Del Sol in Park Circle, it was the beverage situation. Raul Sanchez’s restaurant now serves margaritas and other drinks suited to his Mexican cooking, but Alami’s thoughtful Moroccan food pairs best with wine. Yet customers who didn’t bring their own bottles had no choice but to patronize a nearby convenience store.

That problem disappeared with the late May arrival of Accent on Wine & More, located just a few hundred feet down the street at 1056 East Montague Ave. Former Woodlands sommelier Stephane Peltier in 2010 opened the first location of the wine shop and bar in Summerville.

“We have been very pleased with the response of the community,” Peltier says of his new neighbors.

In addition to retailing wine for at-home use, Accent on Wine & More sells a few dozen wines by the glass and half-glass. The menu also lists a selection of meats and cheeses.

Accent on Wine & More is open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Thursday-Saturday. For more information, visit accentwine.com or call 203-4536.
