Charleston’s Lowcountry Food Bank is one of 10 food bank communities competing in a social media campaign in which the three top winners will each receive a 30,000-pound protein donation from the Tyson Foods company.
The contest is being run as a Facebook voting poll.
Voting will run through Sept. 30, which is the end of Hunger Action Month.
To vote, visit Tyson Foods’ Hunger Relief Facebook Page at http://www.facebook.com/#/TysonHungerRelief. Pull up the voting ballot and click the area you are supporting. The three food banks receiving the most votes will share the award.
The donation means 120,000 meals for each food bank.
In addition to Charleston, the contest covers food banks in Richmond, Va., Columbus, Ga., Elizabeth City, N.C., Monroe, La., Memphis, Tenn., Jackson, Miss., Montgomery, Ala., Valdosta, Ga., and Yuma, Ariz.
The winners will be announced shortly after the voting period ends Sept. 30, the company said.
