North Charleston firefighters needed nearly an hour to control a blaze that destroyed an unoccupied house early this morning.

The North Charleston Fire Department responded about 2:45 a.m. to the 1000 block of Buist Avenue, which is southeast of the intersection of Montague and Spruill avenues.

A vehicle parked outside the home also was deemed a loss, fire spokeswoman Bianca Sancic said in a statement.

Because of renovations, no one was home at the time, according to Sancic. She said early this morning that the cause of the blaze had not been determined.

No one was hurt.
