A business building was damaged by a fire that shut down part of Rivers Avenue in North Charleston on Monday night.
The blaze was reported about 8:30 p.m. in the 4600 block. The area is southeast of the interchange of interstates 26 and 526.
The fire shut down the westbound lanes of Rivers for a few hours.
Bianca Sancic, spokeswoman for the North Charleston Fire Department, said that when they arrived, firefighters saw a moderate amount of smoke coming from the front of the building.
At the time, no one was inside the building, which was moderately damaged, according to Sancic.
She did not say where the flames ignited and said the cause was still under investigation.
