SPARTANBURG — Authorities are investigating a fire that damaged a Spartanburg church.

Officials say they received a call at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday about a fire at New Hidden Hill Baptist Church.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the back of the building. Officials at the scene said they think the fire may have started in the roof.

Pastor Antonio Lee says the congregation of about 50 families is thankful the building is still standing.

Firefighters said most of the damage is from smoke and water.
