Earlier this week, The Post and Courier announced improvements to its Subscriber Rewards program.

It's essentially set up for those who subscribe to the newspaper, called advantage members, and offers discounts to more than 220 local and national retailers.

I wanted to let everyone know what it entails and why it is of value to you. I tracked down Andy Morgan, circulation sales marketing manager, to get the scoop.

The Subscriber Rewards website gives you 10 percent to 70 percent off through printable coupons and/or mobile coupons to restaurants, florists, clothing and accessory stores, gift shops and more.

The site currently has 73 online offers and 65 local offers to more than 140 locations.

It also has a handy map view of all participating local merchants with contact information and directions just a click away.

Morgan says he is excited about being able to give newspaper subscribers more bang for their buck.

“It's another way of providing value to being an advantage member,” he says. “Membership has its benefits.”

If you don't have access to a computer, you still can take advantage of this savings program. Simply call customer service at 853-7678 and someone will mail you a coupon card for your area.

Nonsubscribers can sign up for a free 30-day trial. After the trial period, you can continue using the rewards program only if you subscribe.
