Life can change in the blink of an eye. Just ask Gabourey Sidibe. Only a couple of years ago, she expected to spend her life as a receptionist.
There's nothing wrong with that. It's just a long way from turning in an Oscar-nominated performance such as Sidibe did in "Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire."
Now, she's in the new Showtime comedy "The Big C." Even Sidibe still seems a little surprised.
"I've always wanted a normal life, and this is what I got. Being an actress wasn't a plan at all, and so it's very strange what's happened to me. Life isn't very normal even though I'm still very much a normal girl," Sidibe says.
It really hits her when she's at a restaurant or on a bus or subway. Yes, she takes buses and subways.
Strangers get excited. Sidibe demonstrates, thrusting her hands in the air and shaking them.
I guess that's what people do around celebrities.
