Imagine this. It has been the longest work day ever. Your friends want to go out for drinks. You want to go, but your wallet is nearly empty -- and you really, really need a break. Decisions, decisions.

You ask your friend to spot you "this time" and feel guilty, or you miss out on all the fun and venting. So instead of saying, "No, I can't go, I'm broke," look around for some of the awesome happy hour specials in Charleston.

Here are some places that come highly recommended. If you know of any other great happy hour spots, we'll post them on the Savvy blog.

Mondays are half-off appetizers, Tuesdays are chef's choice, Wednesdays are build your own tacos, Thursdays are chef's carved pork and Fridays are chef's carved turkey. Call 460-1460.

A cool new Irish pub opened a few weeks ago at 3157-B Maybank Highway on Johns Island. The Seanachai Social Club (pronounced "shawn-a-kee") has happy hour 4-7 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday. Owner Gerry Kiernan is offering $4 draft craft pints and $1 off all liquor and wine. He says they have a "traditional Irish session" 5-7 p.m. every Thursday (that means music).
