The Gibbes Museum, College of Charleston’s Addlestone Library and Jewish Studies Program will present a discussion titled “Willard Hirsch: A Jewish Artist in Charleston” at 10 a.m. this morning. The free talk is in the College of Charleston Jewish Studies Center’s Arnold Hall, 96 Wentworth St.

It features Jane Hirsch, the artist’s daughter; Special Collections Senior Archivist Harlan Greene; and Gibbes Curator Sara Arnold. It is presented in conjunction with a retrospective of Hirsch’s work showing at the Gibbes Museum through Dec. 30.

The panelists will present a virtual tour of Hirsch’s works, which are throughout the city.

A new book about the sculptor, the companion catalog to the Gibbes exhibit called “Art is a Powerful Language: Willard Hirsch: The Man, The Artist,” by Home House Press, will be available for purchase.
