Charleston native to chair BBYO board

Charleston native Walter Solomon has been elected chairman of BBYO's International Board of Directors.

BBYO is a Jewish teen movement that aims to involve teens in meaningful Jewish experiences.

Solomon, who now lives in Kentucky, was heavily involved in BBYO as a teenager in Charleston and then as a chapter adviser in Cincinnati.

"BBYO was a formative experience that prepared me to be the person I am today," Solomon said in a statement. "Many of my community, business and personal relationships were fostered while in BBYO and continue decades later."

Solomon became a member of the BBYO International Board of Directors in 2008.

During his career, he also has served on the boards of 10 not-for-profit and primarily Jewish organizations. He also wrote "Cubicle Tales," published in 2014, and is a guest blogger for
