Bishop Guglielmone going to prison to celebrate Christmas

CHARLESTON — Charleston’s Roman Catholic bishop is spreading holiday cheer behind bars this year.

Bishop Robert Guglielmone (goo-yell-MOH’-nee) is celebrating Christmas Eve services on Christmas Day with inmates at the Williamsburg Federal Correctional Institution in Salters.

Guglielmone says he has pledged to spend Christmas Eve with prison inmates because of biblical teachings encouraging mercy toward all people.

The bishop previously celebrated Easter Mass at a South Carolina prison.
