My mom’s my inspiration

For being an activist.

It took a lot of dedication,

To stand for justice.

She spoke out for others,

When they couldn’t fight,

Our soul sisters and brothers,

Choosing morals over might.

Before it was popular,

She was a feminist,

Ignoring general populace,

Always the activist.

Being a birthright Quaker,

She walked the Quaker line,

To be a giver, not a taker,

Always looking for the spark Divine.

So Mother, write this for you,

Your caring my greatest gift,

On behalf of all my siblings,

Our thanks for a life well-lived!
