Actor Kenneth Branagh will appear on Masterpiece's "Wallander II: Faceless Killers" when it airs in October on PBS.

Branagh says he wants to dig deeper into the character of the fictional police inspector. Folks also may be interested in the next film he's directing: "Thor," based on the Marvel Comics character. It opens next year. Branagh sees similarities between Thor and Wallander. Both are Scandinavian with family problems.

"I also think there are times when Wallander could use a hammer," he says. While filming "Thor," he says, he couldn't sleep the night before he had to direct Anthony Hopkins as Odin.
