Bad back to keep Fox from golf tournament

A back injury has forced actor Michael J. Fox to withdraw from the Principal Charity Classic pro-am golf event in West Des Moines, Iowa, this week.

Fox had been expected to play today at the Glen Oaks Country Club.

The Des Moines Register reported Tuesday that tournament spokeswoman Joelle Kirchhoff said Fox decided against making the trip after hurting his back. He competed in the tourney in 2009.

The Principal Charity Classic, a Champions Tour Event, runs from Friday through Sunday at Glen Oaks.

Kingston's condition critical but stable

A publicist for Sean Kingston is offering the latest on the hip-hop singer who has been hospitalized since crashing his watercraft into a Miami Beach bridge over the weekend.

Joseph Carozza said Tuesday that Kingston remains in critical but stable condition in a Miami hospital.

He said Kingston's family is asking for privacy while acknowledging how grateful it is for the prayers and support from Kingston's fans.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman Jorge Pino said the 21-year-old singer and a female passenger were injured Sunday afternoon when their watercraft hit the Palm Island Bridge.

Both were hospitalized at Ryder Trauma Center in Miami.

A number of hip-hop musicians were in Miami Beach over Memorial Day weekend for Urban Beach Week.
