Blue Bicycle Books Charleston Author Series luncheon at Halls Chophouse, 434 King St., is scheduled for noon Sept. 17. It features Christopher Dickey, author of “Our Man in Charleston.”

Dickey is the Paris bureau chief and Middle East editor for The Daily Beast. Previously he worked for Newsweek Magazine in the same position, and before that for The Washington Post as Cairo bureau chief and Central America bureau chief. His books include “With the Contras: A Reporter in the Wilds of Nicaragua”; “Expats: Travels from Tripoli to Tehran”; “Innocent Blood,” “Summer of Deliverance: A Memoir of Father and Son”; and “Securing the City: Inside America’s Best Counterterror Force — the NYPD.” He is the son of the late South Carolina poet and novelist James Dickey.

At 6 p.m., Dickey will appear for a book signing at Barnes & Noble, 1812 Sam Rittenberg Blvd.
