The Academy of the History of Dentistry is holding its 60th annual meeting in Charleston this week, through Friday.

The meeting will be held at the James B. Edwards School of Dental Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. Speakers from all over the country will be lecturing, including Dr. David Chernin on Josiah Flagg, America's first itinerant surgeon dentist, who is buried in Charleston.

Dr. James B. Edwards will highlight local speakers on Friday afternoon. The gathering is closed to the public.
