GREER — Spartanburg County authorities are looking for two men accused of torturing and murdering a couple nearly three years ago.
Deputies on Friday said they need information on 32-year-old Louis Perez and 28-year-old Jose Delangel Gomez.
The men are charged with murder in the deaths of Hugo Lugo-Hernandez and Teresa Avilla-Martinez. Sheriff’s deputies found the bodies of the mutilated couple inside a home in January 2009. Each person had been beaten and shot.
Earlier this year, an Atlanta woman was sentenced to 50 years in prison for arranging the deaths. Five other people charged in the case have also pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing.
Deputies say Gomez was nearly arrested last year by the U.S. Marshals Service but jumped off a Jacksonville, Fla., bridge and swam away.
