'Army Wives' film a fifth season in Charleston

Lights and cameras — now all that's needed is action, and it looks like that will start at the end of this year, as 'Army Wives' will shoot its fifth season in and around Charleston.

WADE SPEES

Defending champion Buzz Peel of Delray Beach, Fla., heads a field of 126 golfers from 35 states, Canada and Panama who will be competing in the Senior Azalea tournament that will be played Wednesday through Friday at the Country Club of Charleston.

Peel, who was playing in his first Senior Azalea in 2010, finished the 54-hole tournament at 4-under-par 209. The tournament is for golfers 55 and older. Skip Snow of Dayton, Ohio, won the Super Seniors (ages 65+) with a 212.

Other top competitors include Frank Ford III of Charleston, who finished third in this year's British Senior Amateur, as well as former champions Snow; Mike Rice of Houston; Steve Johnson of MeQuon, Wis.; Ben Shadoan of Taylors; Heyward Sullivan of Greenville; Walt Martin of Oakton, Va.; and Curtis Wagner of Peachtree City, Ga.

Nationwide volunteers

Holes-in-3

Two golfers scored "holes-in-3" recently at the Plantation Course at Edisto. BoBo Lee, a local restaurant owner, topped a tee shot on the par-3 third hole and had to re-tee. He knocked the next shot in for his par. Ten days later, on Sept. 17, Kirby Shealy of Columbia hit his tee shot in the water on the par-3 sixth hole, re-teed and then hit his next shot in for a par.

Charleston Interclub

Crowfield won the Charleston Area Men's Interclub Golf Association match played at Berkeley Country Club with a score of 41 points. Coosaw Creek was second with 29 points, while RiverTowne took third with 28 points. J.T. Parker of Berkeley was the top individual with 15 points. Richard Pivette of Crowfield was second with 14 and John Bliss third with 11.

STANDINGS: Crowfield, 90; Miler, 83.5; RiverTowne, 78; Wescott, 75.5; Chas. National, 75; Chas. Municipal, 73.5; Dunes West, 73; Pine Forest, 72.5; Stono Ferry, 70.5; Berkeley, 67.5; Legend Oaks, 62.5; Coosaw Creek, 62; and Shadowmoss, 46.5.

GolfWeek Tour

Chris Burnett won the Charleston GolfWeek Amateur Tour event played at the Links at Stono Ferry, shooting 79. David Politi was second with an 82.

Other flight winners: A -- Eric Tobias, 74; Mark Ducker, 79. B -- Tim Sumption, 82; Pat Helm, 84. C -- Keith Weaver, 93; Rich Cairns, 95. D -- Max Velasquez, 95; Dennis Harris, 95.

Hurricane Juniors

Reona Hirari of Summerville took first with a score of 151 in the girls 14-18 division and Taylor McInnis of Summerville was third at 162 in the Hurricane Junior Tour's Charlotte Junior Challenge, played at Waterford Golf Club in Rock Hill. Robert Ferira of Charleston was third in the boys 15-19 with a score of 154. Molly Park of Daniel Island finished third at 169 in the girls 10-13 in the Hilton Head Junior Open played at Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run.
