COLUMBIA — Prisma Health has taken ownership of an orthopedic surgery center in Lexington.
South Carolina's largest health care system continued its expansion with the purchase of Moore Orthopaedic Clinic Outpatient Surgery Center, where doctors conduct hand, spine, joint and sports injury related orthopedic surgeries that do not require hospitalization.
The center will be renamed Prisma Health Orthopedic Surgery Center and marks the health system's first accredited ambulatory surgery center, according to a statement by the company.
“Prisma Health is always striving to bring more healthcare options and services to our communities across the state to help people live healthier lives,” said Beth Tibbs, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Prisma Health Medical Group. “We are excited about the excellent quality and value the surgery center adds to our scope of outpatient services.”
All physicians currently operating at the center will continue to do so and previously scheduled surgeries will proceed as planned following the ownership change.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
