Mac Off 2

Almost 20 restaurants will serve up their signature macaroni and cheese dishes at the Mac Off on Saturday at The Grove. Michael Wiser/Special to the Post and Courier

“Sweet dreams are made of swiss - who am I to dis-a-Brie?”

You cheddar believe it, the annual Charleston Mac Off is back. Yes, indeed … cheese. Hallowed Brie thy name. No need to search on Brie-Bay for second-hand cheese this weekend. No one is going to tell you it’s na-cho-cheese. This is your day.

Up to 20 restaurants will be at The Grove on Saturday with their best take on the Southern veggie plate special, but there also will be some brews and cocktails to wash everything down with, kids’ activities and live music. One Kool Blow will entertain with soul and R&Brie tunes and Ben Fagan & The Holy City Hooligans will keep things moving with their “feel-good island soul.” Additional vendors will be on-site and there will be a kitchen demo space, The Mac Kitchen, with free programmed activities and demonstrations. A free shuttle pick-up will run from Cinebarre on Houston Northcutt Boulevard in Mount Pleasant but there also will be $5 limited parking at Patriots Point. A portion of the event’s proceeds will benefit Lowcountry Local First.

WHEN: 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4

WHERE: The Grove at Patriots Point, 40 Patriots Point Road, Mount Pleasant

PRICE: $15 advance; $20 at-the-gate; $80 VIP; free for ages 8 years and younger; $2 tasting tickets
