Where to find Easter festivals and egg hunts for the family

If you’re celebrating Easter with young children in the Lowcountry, Easter egg hunts are a must-do.

A handful of scenic venues around town host massive scavenger hunts, Easter bunny visits, and other festivities that can be a treat for the whole family. Here’s where to find a few of them.

What: This historic venue on the Ashley River will host several 30-minute egg hunts for different age groups. Prizes in the eggs include annual family memberships, nature rides around the plantation, candy, and more. Magnolia’s mascot, Eggbert Hopps, will visit with kids throughout the day.

What: Another plantation on the Ashley River is hosting its annual Easter Eggstravaganza, which starts with an egg hunt, using real hard-boiled eggs, and continues throughout the day with crafts, storytelling and colonial games including an egg roll and egg toss. The Easter Bunny will also be on site to take photos with children.

What: The Lowcountry Kids Expo from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in Mount Pleasant is a free event that centers on providing families with resources to access health care, education and safety information for their children. It’s also timed to offer kids Easter-themed activities such as an egg hunt, stage performances, crafts and face-painting.

what: The retail hub between Kiawah and Seabrook Islands will host family-friendly festivities all weekend to celebrate Easter. A free concert will be held Friday on the Village Green, an Easter Festival will be held Saturday, and the venue will hold a nondenominational Easter service Sunday.
