The Charlestones to perform a capella during Piccolo Spoleto

The Charlestones perform during a Second Sunday on King Street.

“Glee” may have aired its final episode this year, but there’s hope for the show’s fans that have since fallen in love with the art of a capella groups. This weekend, the Charlestones, a local men’s vocal quartet will make its Piccolo Spoleto debut with an a capella performance at the St. John’s Lutheran Church. The group that makes appearances around town at events such as Second Sunday on King Street often performs all-vocal arrangements of traditional spirituals, pop classics by artists such as Jason Mraz and The Beatles, and a variety of other songs from popular films and Broadway musicals. Bottom line: although Charleston has no shortage of talented singers and musicians, it’s not every day that we get to experience the magic of a four-part harmonized concert in a venue with crystal-clear acoustics.
