The RiverDogs are returning to The Joe for the 20th season this week, and the opening-night game just so happens to fall on one of the most popular nights of the week: Thirsty Thursday.
As loyal fans may know, the weeknight promotion means attendees can drink draft Budweisers for a buck each at the Ashley View Pub, where Charleston’s DJ Natty Heavy spins his eclectic mix of party tunes.
Charleston Mayor Joe Riley will play the national anthem on piano and will throw out the first pitch at 7:05 p.m. before the RiverDogs take on the Columbia Fireflies, the newest members of the South Atlantic League. The crowd also can look forward to the first postgame fireworks show of the season.
The fun continues with a string of home games through the week until April 14, when the team heads to its first away game of the season in Augusta.
The Joe also has plenty of deals and entertainment booked this year, including Kids Club Sunday, when kids eat free, and “Dog Day” Mondays, when fans bring their canine companions and enjoy $1 hot dogs and $1 beers.
