Few tangible experiences have as much instant gratification as filling up a pint glass with cold beer until the foam hits the brim, especially after a long week. Only one thing could make it better: if every drop was racking up money for a local charity. Who says beer enthusiasts can’t also be philanthropists? Not Bay Street Biergarten. The taproom over on East Bay Street is hosting a Charity Tap Takeover this week, when drafts from certain breweries will correspond with donations to a local charity. That way, you get to pick your beverage and your soft spot at the same time. Sales of Tradesman Brewing Co. beers will benefit the Green Heart Project, Holy City Brewery beers will benefit Charleston Moves and Thomas Creek Brewery beers will benefit the Charleston Animal Society. Brooklyn Brewery, Sweetwater Brewing Co. and Westbrook Brewing will participate, as well.
When: 4-9 p.m. Thursday
Where: 549 East Bay St., Charleston
Price: Free to attend, beer prices vary
