The Pour House’s benefit concert for the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund featuring more than 80 local artists on Tuesday sold out in a matter of hours when tickets were released Monday afternoon, so, the venue has decided to stream the performances live online on Ustream.tv.
The first half of the evening started at 4:30 p.m. on the deck stage, and the second half will being at 8 p.m. inside.
Businesses from Charleston and across the country, as well as nationally-recognized bands, have donated more than 200 items for a silent auction, including a Winter Lady Widespread Panic poster signed by the jam band. Bids can be made online at the silent auction’s website.
All proceeds from the raffle, as well as tickets, tips, and alcohol sales after expenses will be donated directly to the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund, which will cover costs of funeral expenses for the nine victims killed in the mass shooting at the historic church last week. Any remaining money in the fund will be donated to the church. The event, billed as “Don’t Tell Me This Town Ain’t Got No Heart,” named for a line in the song “Shakedown Street” by the Grateful Dead, is meant to “unite our community and to provide a healing, loving space for fellowship,” according to a statement from the James Island venue.
