Mardi Paws event benefits Feline Freedom Coalition

The Feline Freedom Coalition, deemed “the only no-cage, adoption and medical treatment facility dedicated to the service of feral cats and caretakers in South Carolina,” is inviting folks to be transported to the “Cat-on-Rouge” for their Mardi Paws event. With Mardi Gras just around the corner (Feb. 17), the event will feature New Orleans-style food; “purr-icanes”; wine and beer; Cajun, Zydeco and contemporary music; a silent auction; and a door prize. And in true Mardi Gras style, there will be King Cake; purple, green and gold doubloons; beads; and masks. The dress code is casual, but attendees are encouraged to wear masks or a fantasy costume. The event will benefit the Feline Freedom Coalition’s programs that focus on helping homeless and stray cats.

When: 3-7 p.m. Saturday

Where: Gold Bug Island, 1560 Ben Sawyer Blvd., Mount Pleasant

Price: $45
