Inaugural Charleston International Jazz Festival kicks off Thursday

Jazz Artists of Charleston, a local nonprofit that aims to promote musical awareness and education, including the recognition and preservation of the history of jazz, through performances, special events and educational outreach, will host the inaugural Charleston International Jazz Festival this weekend. A four-day festival, the event will feature educational programs and live jazz performances featuring local, national and international jazz artists. Highlights of the festival include a Jazz @ Noon series, a Reel Time jazz movie and the Get Happy Hour series. A special Sunday Jazz Brunch double bill, followed by a Family Jazz Jamboree that is free and open to the public, will close out the festival.
