What: Celebrate the holidays with your four-legged friends and family. Elan Midtown, a new luxury boutique apartment community, will host a holiday party for pets and their humans that will feature festive activities, photo opportunities for pets and complimentary cocktails and hors d'oeuvres for humans. Proceeds will go to Charleston Animal Society.

What: Hosted by The Shops at Charleston Place, this eighth annual event will feature wreaths designed by some of Charleston's top creative talent that will be auctioned off to benefit the Medical University of South Carolina Children's Hospital. Attendees will enjoy a festive menu of champagne, delectables and live music from McKenzie Eddy as patrons browse and bid on the homemade wreaths.

What: This outdoor holiday event will feature an artisan holiday market that includes a variety of purveyors, including Haypenny Confections, Ink Meets Paper, Old Growth Furniture, Fine Garnish Jewelry, Heirloom Book Company, King of Pops and Wine Awesomeness. In addition, live holiday music will be performed by the North Charleston High School Marching Band and School of the Arts' vocal performers, complimentary photo opportunities with Santa Claus, holiday food and drink options, kids holiday crafts and more.

What: Park Circle Comics will hold the third event in its series of Taking Flight comic book shows in coordination with a benefit for Toys for Tots. The guest of honor will be "Sonic the Hedgehog" artist Tracy Yardley, with "Toaster Guy" creator Aaron Hazouri, and Charleston area artists Chris Freeman and Tim Showers also in attendance. All of the artists will have originals and prints available, will be signing autographs and taking commissions. Members of the 501st Legion will be collecting toys for Toys for Tots in full Stormtrooper gear, and it's been hinted at that a few other guest helpers might show up, as well. Food and drink specials will be available.

What: Sip while you shop at this Irvin-House Vineyards event. Running for two consecutive Saturdays, the open house will offer attendees the chance to enjoy live music from the De Gullah Singers, a complimentary glass of homemade hot, spiced wine, dig into dishes from the Stono Cafe and peruse the shopping options provided by local vendors. Tastings will be available at the Firefly Vodka distillery and Irvin-House Vineyard winery for a fee. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket. Pets are allowed but must be leashed.

What: The Edisto Island and Edisto Beach communities are decking the coast with boughs of holly. The 23rd annual Edisto Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Edisto Chamber of Commerce, will start at the 600 block of Palmetto Boulevard along Edisto Beach and ends at the Pavilion, near Edisto Beach State Park. The town Christmas tree will be lit prior to the start of the parade. In addition, a number of afternoon and evening events hosted by local businesses, including oyster roasts, shrimp boils, barbecue and live music, will follow.

What: For the eighth year in a row, New Music Collective is seeking participants for Phil Kline's Unsilent Night, a roving boom box caroling sound installation. Those seeking to participate are asked to bring a boom box or portable sound system. Four separate CDs, tapes or digital downloads will be distributed, and after everyone hits play at roughly the same time, participants will crank up the volume and walk to Marion Square.
When: Saturday, meet at 5 p.m. with the walk beginning at 5:15 p.m.

What: This annual family-friendly event returns to Middleton Place, offering a peak into the past in events grounded in Christmas traditions of the Old South. Attendees will enjoy storytelling around a warm fire, caroling and craftspeople working in their shops by candlelight. In addition, there will be Gullah Christmas presentations, wreath and ornament-making, and more. Hot chocolate will be served, and the Middleton Place Restaurant pastry chef is making a variety of cookie creations, including ginger snaps, chocolate chip cookies, benne wafers and snickerdoodles.

What: The monthly Second Sunday on King Street has expanded this month to include two additional dates, the first happening this weekend. In this first-ever Third Sunday on King Street, the theme will be holiday shopping, family gatherings, food and music. There will be carolers in period costume, strolling bagpipes, gift and shopping promotions and special dining on the street.

What: What started as an impromptu gathering of local musicians, artists, and fans in 2002 at the original Cumberlands, the Cord and Pedal Holiday Ball has grown into a Holiday Extravaganza. With an aim to perform holiday themed music in a festive atmosphere, the event has been hosted at various locations in the Charleston area. Hosted by Jeremy McLellan, expect to see performances by Cary Ann Hearst, Michael Trent, Camille Lowman, Rachel Kate Gillon, Jordon Igoe, Lindsay Holler, Kevin Hanley, Elim Bolt, Run Dan Run, Nick Jenkins, Brave Baby, The V-Tones, The Specs, Scott Dence, Magic Camp and The Silver Bells.
