Events for Family Circle Cup kick off this weekend with draw ceremony

Andrea Petkovic plays Eugenie Bouchard at the Family Circle Cup last year.

The Lowcountry’s largest tennis event of the year is back at the Family Circle Stadium on Daniel Island. Much more than just a tennis tournament, the nine-day series will be speckled with all sorts of special events and gatherings. The first will be the draw ceremony on the grand lawn of the stadium at 3 p.m. Saturday, when player names will be drawn at random to determine who will face off against each other. Also, the matches on April 8 are themed “Pink Out for the Cure,” so for all attendees who wear pink for breast cancer awareness, MUSC will donate $1 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
