Drayton Hall hosts first Midnight Masquerade on Halloween eve

Drayton Hall's projecting double porch facing S.C. Highway 61 is considered the front of the house and is perhaps its most iconic feature. Its design echoes Andrea Palladio's design for Villa Cornaro outside Venice, Italy more than two centuries earlier. (Robert Behre/Staff/File)

Dancing at Drayton

Drayton Hall will come alive after dark for the inaugural Midnight Masquerade this weekend, a party aimed at young professionals. The event is organized by the Palladian Circle, a networking group of young people who help support Drayton Hall and other historic preservation causes.

Guests can hit the dance floor with Mike Quinn and the Superfunk playing live funk music, or take moonlit tours of the historic plantation house. The bar will be manned by Spike Bar Service and Fork Catering and Fine Gourmet will dish up heavy hors d’oeuvres featuring Venetian, Spanish and New Orleans flavors.

Shuttles will provide transportation to and from the Hagood parking lot at MUSC. The first shuttle departs at 6:30 p.m. and the last one returns to the downtown parking lot at 11 p.m. All proceeds will support Drayton Hall’s preservation and educational outreach projects.
