Carolina Green Fair to promote eco-friendly values with family-friendly activities

Dharma Lane and her friend Sebastian Grow learn about composting during the Carolina Green Fair in 2011 (Grace Beahm/staff/file).

Learning how to protect the environment is important, but not always the most exciting activity to pursue on a weekend.

That’s why the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission has held the Carolina Green Fair for the past eight years to help encourage more locals to learn about sustainable living through family-friendly festivities.

There will be wildlife exhibits from the Center for Birds of Prey, a Peace Walk held by the Branch of Peace Foundation to promote values of peace and stainability and a vendor market of environmentally friendly products. Local artists Katie Rose, Yellowknife and The Lowhills will perform throughout the day.

When: Noon-5 p.m. Sunday

Where: James Island County Park, 871 Riverland Drive

Price: Free with $1 park admission at the gates
