Campaign for traveling farmer’s market launches with all-day festival

Lowcountry Street Grocery could become the area's traveling fruit and veggie stand, (Paul Zoeller/postandcourier.com).

Local entrepreneurs Lindsey Barrow and Kate DeWitt want to build Lowcountry Street Grocery, a traveling farmer’s market to service parts of town that don’t have easy access to fresh, healthy foods. But first, they need the money to transform an old school bus into their veggie-stand-on-wheels. So this weekend, they’re hosting a launch party at the Pour House to raise awareness about the new Kickstarter campaign that Barrow and DeWitt have been working on for the past year. Called “Fund the Bus,” the event Saturday on the outdoor deck will feature performances by local musicians and food by local trucks Auto-Banh and Charleston Lunchbox.

When: 2-9 p.m. Saturday

Where: 1977 Maybank Highway, James Island
