Boone Hall Plantation is partnering with iHeartMedia Charleston and its local country station, 103.5 WEZL, for the first time to bring a Fourth of July weekend kick-off concert to the scenic back lawn of the plantation in Mount Pleasant. Headlining the iHeart America Festival is Easton Corbin, a pop country artists who broke out with two No. 1 hits in 2009, “A Little More Country Than That” and “Roll With It” from his self-titled debut album. Billboard dubbed Corbin “the Top New Country Artist of 2010” and ranked “Roll With It” as No. 6 on the list of Hot Country Songs of the Year. He released a sophomore album, “All Over the Road” in 2012, and was again praised by critics for his traditionalist approach to country that stayed above the tired story lines of cheating lovers and the like that tend to dominate the country airwaves. His third album, “About to Get Real” was released Tuesday, so his show in Charleston will be the first time the artist will perform most of the new songs in front of a live audience. Organizers of the event said they hope to turn it into an annual celebration ahead of the July 4th holiday with different performers every year. There will be festival food, beer and wine for sale. Coolers, pets, concealed weapons and tents will not be allowed at the venue.
