The BB&T Charleston Wine + Food Festival kicks off its milestone 10th year next week with the Opening Night Gala ($150) in Marion Square. Presented by The Art Institute of Charleston, the night’s events and food will be inspired by the Lowcountry’s culinary classic Junior League of Charleston cookbook, “Charleston Receipts.” Join the “who’s who of Charleston chefs” to eat and drink your way through a celebration of a decade of Charleston Wine + Food. The event, which suggests gala attire, will also include live music by The V-Tones.
Drawing from a local food culture rich in tradition and James Beard Award-winning chefs, the festival infuses homegrown flavor with top chefs, winemakers, authors, storytellers and food enthusiasts. With more than 100 events scheduled over the five days of the festival, there’s sure to be something that appeals to every palate. Events range from bourbon workshops to wine tastings, cooking classes to signature dinners, brunches to the Waffle House Smackdown. The Culinary Village again will set up shop in Marion Square, offering an all-inclusive day ($70-$85) of more than 60 interactive chef demos in the new Third Space presented by Summers Corner, a new Hands-On Kitchen presented by SCE&G, an Artisan Market presented by Rewined, the Grand Tasting Tent presented by Baker Motor Company, a new Cocktail Pop-Up presented by Bulleit Bourbon and company, an expanded Biergarten presented by Bay Street Biergarten, Rose & Grilling presented by Chateau d’Esclans, Wine Retail Shop presented by Bottles, Cookbook Retail Shop presented by Williams-Sonoma and a new music stage.
