A few dogs who competed in last year’s Dock Dogs competition during the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition will get some serious air time this weekend on ABC.

A segment of “Born to Explore With Richard Wiese” will center on the rapidly-growing sport that tests the distance dogs can leap into water to retrieve decoys. The sport is perhaps best known in the Lowcounty as the Dock Dogs feature at SEWE.

The segment was filmed last year while Wiese, the show’s host, was in town to give a few presentations about his travels during the festival.

The episode airs at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, timed ahead of this year’s SEWE, which starts on Feb. 11 and runs through Feb. 14. You can check out a preview clip of the segment on the show’s Facebook page.

“Born to Explore” is part of ABC’s “Weekend Adventure,” a block of educational programs aired on Saturday mornings that’s produced by Litton Entertainment, a Charleston-based production firm.
