The weekend is here, which means more time with the family! Here are ways everyone can enjoy their two days off from work or school in Charleston.
Holiday Parade of Boats
What's the holiday season without some colorful, sparkling lights? One of the best ways that the Lowcountry showcases them are with our unique boat parade. See glowing Santas, phosphorescent reindeer, sailboat mast Christmas trees and more light up the water.
The promenade of boats adorned with colorful lights will begin on the Mount Pleasant side of the Cooper River, head down the Charleston side and end in the Ashley River.
And this is just one of many parades taking place this weekend, perfect for bringing the kids along to!

Gracie & Lacy's Cool Yule
A concert you can definitely bring the tots along to this weekend is local duo Gracie & Lacy's Cool Yule. The Christmas-themed performance from the swingin' sisters will include holiday hits from across the decades. Expect a vintage vibe a la Dean Martin, the Puppini Sisters, Michael Buble and Postmodern Jukebox.
Plus, the ticketed Charleston Museum show offers a $5 discount for kids 12 and under.

Elf Jr. on stage
A kid-friendly stage production of "Elf" is taking place this weekend. Get a one-way ticket to the North Pole this weekend with the musical performance, which stars children ages 9-14 as the main characters. Talk about some young talent!
These little elves of The Village Kids will be providing the same original story line as made popular by the hit movie with Will Ferrell. And there will be two performances this weekend, so if you can't catch one, you might be able to make it to the other.

'Tis the season for buying presents for all your loved ones. Get some Christmas shopping done with the kids in tow at a variety of holiday markets popping up around town. And don't worry what location of town you're in. There will be markets downtown, in Mount Pleasant, in James Island and in Summerville.
They will featured handcrafted items from local artisans, kids' activities like face painting and bounce castles, live entertainment and some visits from Santa, among other fun festivities.

Get brunch with Santa
Something you and the kids can both enjoy is brunch at Mercantile & Mash this Saturday. There will be a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will be available for picture-taking (if you've been procrastinating on your Christmas card). There will also be a cookie-decorating station for the young'uns, along with a balloon artist. Then, for you, there will be mimosas and Bloody Mary's! We knew you were waiting for that part.
