3 Charleston restaurants in national spotlight

  • Updated

Three local restaurants are getting a turn in the national spotlight.

The Glass Onion at 1219 Savannah Highway, a foodie favorite, will appear on the Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives” show at 10 p.m. Monday. The Louisiana-inspired restaurant, operated by Sarah O’Kelley, Charles Vincent and Chris Stewart since 2008, hosted the show’s star, Guy Fieri, in the fall.

Also, Poogan’s Porch and Social Restaurant + Wine Bar each have received a 2012 Diners’ Choice Award from OpenTable. Award winners are determined by diners who book reservations through and then give feedback about their experience in a follow-up form.

Poogan’s Porch, located in a Victorian house at 72 Queen St., is one of downtown’s oldest restaurants. Social Restaurant, in a 19th century warehouse at 188 East Bay St., features a 4,000-bottle display cellar and a wood-burning oven.
