Christophe Artisan Chocolatier is moving its chocolate shop from 363 1/2 King St. into a larger space at 90 Society St. Owners Christophe and Carly Paume plan to open in the new location Dec. 1 with more offerings that include French pastries, croissants and French-press coffee. It will be open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
They have another store at 357 N. Shelmore Blvd. in I'On Village in Mount Pleasant.
The former Butchies By Design interior decorating shop at 217 St. James Ave. in Goose Creek is now Betty's By Design. Former 12-year floor manager Betty Skipper Kaske has taken over the longtime shop after former owner Butchie Phillips retired in September. Kaske has always enjoyed design and as a child would rearrange the furniture in her parents' home at least once a month, most of the time to her and their liking.
The shop offers wallpaper, drapery and upholstery fabric, paint, wall art, prints, furniture, lamps and accent pieces.
The store will have a grand opening from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, including a ribbon-cutting and prizes.
GasLight Art and Wine now has two locations. Already at 211 Meeting St. in downtown Charleston, the new store is at 1715 Hollydale Court next to Fat Hen on Johns Island. Owners Debra McKinley and Mitch Mitchell offer art, wine, antiques, gifts and gift baskets.
Many garages in downtown Charleston will offer free two-hour parking Friday through Dec. 31. For vouchers, go to www.charleston-sc.gov. Under City Departments, Boards and Commissions, click on Office of Cultural Affairs, then on the left click on Holiday Magic in Historic Charleston to download the voucher.
Charleston Creamery at Mount Pleasant Towne Centre will host its annual "Sundaes with Santa" from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday to benefit East Cooper Community Outreach. Children bringing an unwrapped toy or cash donation for the charity can participate for free.
Each child attending will receive a free gift from Santa and 96.9 FM. Seating is limited to 40 children, and reservations are necessary. Call 216-9900.
Pets can have their photos taken with Santa at Mount Pleasant Towne Centre from 6-7 p.m. Sunday and Dec. 4 in front of Banana Republic on Belk Drive. Radio station 95SX will offer goodie bags for pets and offer a cutest pet contest online after the Sunday photo shoot. The winner will receive a $50 Towne Centre gift card.
Santa will be available for visits from 3 to 8 p.m Monday through Friday, noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday through Dec. 24.
