Firefighters extinguished a blaze at a West Ashley condo this morning, minutes after a resident woke up to the sight of flames climbing up her bedroom wall.
The blaze was reported about 7:10 a.m. on Treescape Drive.
Firefighters from the St. Andrews and Charleston fire departments had the blaze out about 10 minutes later.
Deborah Tolles, who rents the unit from her mother, said her two cats made it out OK.
There were no injuries.
Tolles said that a fire alarm woke her and that she and her boyfriend saw their bedroom wall on fire. They managed to run from the unit unharmed.
Surrounding units also were evacuated as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.
Tolles said she has insurance.
