Tourists and locals alike can sample a taste of Summerville during National Travel and Tourism Week.

The Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce is showcasing Flowertown's tourism draws this week at the Summerville Visitor Center, where sweet tea and samples of locally-crafted goods will be given away for free.

The town of Summerville, which promotes itself as "the birthplace of sweet tea," has tapped into Charleston's tourism market by offering festivals and retail events that center on sweet tea.

This week, those who stop by the Summerville Visitor Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. can sample sweet tea cupcakes from Hummingbird Bakery, and coffee from Coastal Coffee Roasters, among other local products.
