S.C. Federal Credit Union buys Upstate insurer

A division of North Charleston-based South Carolina Federal Credit Union has purchased an Upstate insurer.

South Carolina Financial Solutions LLC announed the acquisition of Chastain Insurance Agency on Thursday.

Financial terms of the sale were not disclsoed.

The agency is based in Seneca, near Clemson, and has been in business for 60 years. It will operate as Chastain Insurance Agency in its home town and under the South Carolina Financial Solutions name as it expands to other markets.

Chastain’s Folly Road location was closed after the sale and folded into the new owner’s offices on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston.

Products and services offered will include personal and lines, flood and umbrella liability policies.

“The communities we serve now have the opportunity to secure mortgage loans, investment advice and insurance all under one roof,” said Bonnie Ciuffo, president of South Carolina Financial Solutions.

South Carolina Federal Credit Union is a $1.3 billion, nonprofit lender and financial services company.
