A house builder headquartered in the Charleston area intends to broaden the size of its established upscale community in Dorchester County.
Sabal Homes plans to add 26 homes within the next year at Branch Creek, which stands off U.S. Highway 78 south of the Berlin Myers Parkway in Summerville.
The company, which proclaims itself a premier homebuilder, features single-family homes within its Branch Creek Estates and Branch Creek Villages design collections. Home shoppers can chose among nine floor plans sized from 1,731 square feet to 3,480 square feet. Prices range between $217,900 and $309,900.
All homes spotlight raised foundations, front porches, cement plank siding and two-to-four baths. According to Sabal Homes, the residential architecture draws on the heritage of Summerville while at the same time being functional.

Fresh from top-notch training, five Carolina One Real Estate agents recently gained certification in helping servicemen and women when they transfer.
The associates — Nathan Boynton, Donna Caldwell, Elizabeth Phillips, Karena Sturgis and Imogene Thomas — work from the company’s Orleans Road office west of the Ashley.
The National Association of Realtors certified them as Military Relocation Professionals.
To earn the certification, agents complete a 10-hour course tailored to educating real estate professionals on special insights that go into working with current and former military service personnel.
Those techniques include finding servicemen, retired military and their families “housing solutions that best suit their needs and help them take full advantage of military benefits and support,” according to Carolina One.
In particular, the course takes a look at the military real estate market, military relocation and Veterans Administration financing and benefits.
The Military Relocation Professional course is the only military-oriented certification program that the NAR confers and sanctions, Carolina One notes.
The North Charleston-headquartered real estate agency claims more than 30 percent of residential sales transactions in the Lowcountry as of the end of the third quarter.
Carolina One also is one of the more broad-based local real estate companies, boasting 11 sales offices; a full service mortgage division; and departments tied to relocation, new homes, insurance, commercial real estate, property management, resort rentals and title services.

•Daniel Island tees up private street with home sites overlooking golf layout•
Thanks to keen interest from home shoppers eager for new places to buy, Daniel Island will open a new roadway sporting golf course lots.
Called Lesesne Street, the lane slices through the Daniel Island Park neighborhood.
“It’s been several years since there has been a new offering of home sites in Daniel Island Park,” according to Daniel Island Real Estate, which handles much of the sales and marketing on the island.
Just a few homesites, new or resale, stand available. As a result, the island’s development company launched the special collection of new sites, which it says will be introduced shortly.
The private Lesesne Street enclave sits adjacent to the popular Ithecaw Creek neighborhood on the island’s tranquil northeast boundary. The 24 new home sites border the 13th and 14th holes of the Ralston Creek golf course. Most lots offer “sweeping vistas of golf; some of marsh and golf,” according to Daniel Island Real Estate.
Lesesne Street stands in the early stages of grading work and of obtaining necessary permits.
Home site prices aren’t available yet for the series of lots. The agency encourages interested parties to contact a Daniel Island Real Estate sales associate to learn more about the properties and to be notified when the brokerage secures prices.

A former opera singer, one-time graphic artist and ex-boutique owner — whose husband played hockey — have signed on with Carolina One Real Estate.
The agents include Amanda Hurren Jones, Kristin Schatmeyer and Danielle Traverse. They all work out of the Mount Pleasant Highway 17 North office of Carolina One Real Estate.
Born in Illinois and raised in Charleston, Jones attended South Carolina schools before obtaining an advanced degree in music from the University of Massachusetts. Jones returned to Charleston last year, after a career as an opera singer in Manhattan. She is married to Badi Jones, a Mount Pleasant native, and the couple have a four-year-old daughter. In her free time, Jones enjoys surfing with her husband.
Schatmeyer, a Niagara Falls, N.Y., native, graduated from James Madison University with a bachelors’ degree in communications. A graphic artist for 18 years, the agent and her husband Simon Schatmeyer reside in Mount Pleasant with their son Jakob and daughter Morgan. She enjoys running, photography and watching her children play soccer and tennis, according to Carolina One.
Traverse studied accounting at Quinsigamond College in her home town of Worcester, Mass. Before moving to Charleston, she ran SPOIL’D upscale clothing store in Westboro, Mass. She is married to Patrick Traverse, a former professional hockey player. They live in Mount Pleasant with their two sons.

•Long-time Charleston area builder enters Cane Bay Plantation in a big way•
Atlanta-based Beazer Homes USA Inc. says it’s purchased 107 acres of land in Berkeley County to raise a new neighborhood, The Oaks at Cane Bay. Beazer, which calls itself one of the nation’s top 10 homebuilders, says the village will be within the master planned Cane Bay Plantation community.
The Oaks at Cane Bay will consist of 274 houses built from as many as a dozen home plans ranging in size from 1,700 to 3,200 square feet.
“Cane Bay (Plantation) has been the top selling community in the Charleston area since 2008. We are excited about being a part of it and having a larger presence in the fast-growing market of Berkeley County,” says Doug Schwartz, Charleston Division president for Beazer Homes.
Situated along U.S. Highway 176, the master planned village touts convenient access to recreation, shopping, schools and healthcare. Its residents live in close proximity to Charleston, according to Beazer.
Attractions include The Market at Cane Bay, a 100,000-square-foot shopping center touting a Publix grocery store, several restaurants and retail space; Cane Bay elementary, middle, and high schools located within the community; an elaborate trail system; and a proposed 68-acre YMCA.

•Agency sponsors second food drive, this time in Mount Pleasant•
After a successful collection effort in Summerville last week, Century 21 Properties Plus has launched a push to feed the hungry east of the Cooper.
The Harvest Food Drive started Oct. 14 and runs through Nov. 4.
Ashleigh Kraemer, recruiting assistant and Realtor with Century 21 Properties Plus, says the agency wants to build on the strong turnout for the Summerville donation drive.
“We have had such an interest in that drive that we decided to do one in our Mount Pleasant office,” she says.
This time, the proceeds will benefit East Cooper Community Outreach. From 2012 through this year, ECCO distributed more than 197,000 pounds of food, she says.

Ann Marie DeRose, Alex Foster and Julian Maxwell Hill Jr. share credit as Carolina One rookie agents in the Goose Creek office, the company says.
A former Air Force mechanic, DeRose was born in New York and grew up in Los Angeles. She worked as a Quality Assurance Instructor for Boeing and as an aircraft assembly instructor for readySC. DeRose, who is married with three children, enjoys bowling and cake decorating in her spare time.
Born and raised in nearby Hilton Head Island, Foster worked in restaurant management including as managing partner of Foster’s Pub in Mount Pleasant. Foster, while focused on her real estate career, enjoys going to the beach with her 5-year-old son.
