Palmetto Bluff gains new builder, neighborhood near May River

West Coast-based Montage plans to build 35 upper crust homes at Palmetto Bluff outside Hilton Head Island.

An emerging upscale community not far from Hilton Head Island will be the first East Coast spot for Montage Residences, the company says.

Montage Residences Palmetto Bluff is part of the company’s “expanding portfolio of luxury real estate communities.” The properties will sit alongside Montage’s resort in the South Carolina Lowcountry between Hilton Head and Savannah. They will be ready for move-in this summer. Public reservations begin this month, according to Montage.

The 35-home enclave borders “a sprawling waterfront green within 20,000 pristine acres of natural preserve,” the company says. Prices for the two-to five-bedroom homes start at $1.2 million. The residences “are designed to embrace the coastal community’s Southern comforts and charms, paying homage to its rich culture and history,” Montage notes.

The Palmetto Bluff community markets itself as “a classic haven for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages.” Waterfront activities include river cruises, kayaking, water-skiing, paddle boarding and salt- and fresh-water fishing, promoters say.

Wilson Landing offers boat storage, a riverside pool, fitness center and waterside dining. There’s also Palmetto Bluff Shooting Club; The Wilson Lawn & Racquet Club, including a pro shop and tennis, croquet and bocce courts; Longfield Stables premier equestrian facility; and the Palmetto Bluff Community Garden “where owners grow their own fruits, vegetables and flowers.”

The Inn at Palmetto Bluff, a Montage Resort, gives homeowners access to the May River Golf Club and an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature course; The Cottage Spa/Spa Montage; seven restaurants and in-residence dining; and Wilson Village Square, which houses a chapel, waterfront shops, a gourmet market, communal parks and bike and walking paths.
