Local builder hopes cottages flower in East Cooper enclave

The Cottages on Periwinkle is a small new village near Copahee Sound east of the Cooper.

Styled like Charleston single homes, five residences going up near Copahee Sound will provide cozy settings paired with incomparable views.

Cottages on Periwinkle — labeled as luxury homes — will range from 1,700 to 2,200 square feet and start in the mid $300,000s, marketing agent Carolina One New Homes says.

New-homes contractor Catalyst Builders is raising the houses, which are off U.S. Highway 17 North near the sound and minutes from the Isle of Palms Connector and Towne Centre shopping plaza.

The cottages showcase three- and four-bedroom floor plans “designed to please even the discriminating buyer,” according to Carolina One New Homes.

Special features of the cottages include stainless steel appliances, granite kitchen and bath countertops, oversized 42-inch cabinets, cement plank siding and elevated construction, marketers say.

“Experience the spirit of community and a naturally beautiful setting in a luxurious new home with spectacular amenities,” Carolina One New Homes notes.

Catalyst Builders, which has constructed Charleston single and Lowcountry-style new homes in the Charleston area since 1977, describes its houses as “custom-feeling without the custom home price-tag.” The properties range from entry level to upper-end.
