John Wieland selling townhomes in Dunes West

Crown molding and wood floors mark the first floor of the Forsythia townhome floor plan from John Wieland Homes.

A noted builder and developer in Mount Pleasant is now offering luxury townhomes, near a golf course, that are priced from $429,900.

Dunes West Golf and River Club has started selling the two-level residences. John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods designed floor plans such as the Forsythia model with 2,750 square feet of “flexible living space” and the master bedroom on the main floor, the company says.

“Surrounded by a beautiful coastal setting, townhomes at this premier country club address offer ample living space and a convenient lifestyle,” John Wieland Homes points out. According to the company, townhome residents can partake in the Dunes West championship golf course, upper crust amenities and Lowcountry surroundings not far from downtown.

The sprawling Dunes West master-planned community, which includes sections behind security gates, stretches north of U.S. Highway 17 and east of S.C. Highway 41 while bordering creeks that lead to the Wando River on its northern edge.

John Wieland Homes cites a number of other features in the Forsythia design, including:

• A large front porch that opens to a “bright and spacious” living room complete with fireplace and custom built-in fixtures.

• An owner’s retreat located off the great room on the first floor and containing dual vanities and a walk-in closet.

• Great room connecting to the dining room and a “gourmet chef’s kitchen,” which in turn opens to a vaulted breakfast area.

• Screened-in porch off the breakfast room offering alluring views.

• An extra large loft, two guest bedrooms “each with a private bath” and walk-in closets upstairs.

• Attached two-car rear-entry garage with additional storage space.

According to the builder, Dunes West Golf and River Club stands out as a neighborhood that “blends country club living with casual coastal elegance.” It’s also minutes from Charleston’s historic district and from beaches at the Isle of Palms.

The “award-winning” golf course designed by Arthur Hills edges water at the end of an avenue of arching oaks in the heart of Dunes West, according to John Wieland Homes. Also highlighting the course are “sweeping greens” and brilliant marsh and water views.

Dunes West residents benefit from scores of amenities such as an athletic and swim club, water park with a slide and beach-entry pool, lighted tennis courts, miles of walking trails, a boat launch and storage and the “popular” crab dock, the builder points out.

The John Wieland New Home Design Studio allows every home at Dunes West to benefit from a personal approach, “where buyers can select all the right finishing touches” with help from a design consultant.

The new Dunes West townhomes are protected by John Wieland Homes’ 5-20 year warranty, depending on what’s covered.
