The primary group handling real estate listings in lower South Carolina coastal regions and parts of Georgia claimed its busiest year in 2017, tallying $3.85 billion in property transactions.

Multiple Listing Service of Hilton Head Island counted 5,397 sold properties and an 11.5 percent increase in deals from 2016.

The organization, established in 1976, added 298 members last year to bring its total to 1,501. According to the group, buyers gain a wide range of options and sellers a large audience of potential buyers. The service also added public record details for eight coastal Georgia counties and improved data totals for 14 sections of Beaufort County.

According to the service, its members use the industry's No. 1 system platform, CoreLogic Matrix, for transactions. CoreLogic records include mortgage information, property taxes and flood and disaster risk figures to help determine "real-time true market value."

The top platform gives members a larger audience and enables them to represent their clients in the best way they can, says Colette Stevenson, chief executive of Multiple Listing Service of Hilton Head Island. "We’ve been reaching out to neighboring counties to grow our outreach to help both those communities and our existing agents with a wider range of housing options. As our region continues to grow, we will continue to provide the most comprehensive, up-to-date listings," she says.
