The Blake at Baxter Village situated on 4.6 acres near Interstate 77 will include a Charleston touch from its contractor.
Frampton Construction Company, LLC, broke ground on the senior living community in Fort Mill, consisting of an 88,000-square-foot assisted living and memory care building and eight cottages designed for residents with more independence.
The Blake will be part of the Baxter Village master planned community, a 1,033-acre "pedestrian" neighborhood touting a YMCA, public library, urgent care center and more than 250,000 square feet of shops, offices and restaurants. The property also takes in more than 400 acres of open space with parks and trails.
According to Frampton, based in Charleston and in Charlotte, the main building will house 68 assisted living and 33 memory care suites, offering flexible floor plans. Amenities include a movie theater, salon, card playing room, physical therapy clinic and activity spaces. "Interior courtyards with fountains and seating provide a space where residents can relax outside while remaining within the footprint and security of the main building," the builder notes.
A wood-framed structure with engineered trusses will dominate the main building. Plenty of windows, covered porches, metal roofing and the "trademark Blake brick veneer" add old-world charm to the facade, Frampton points out. The building include a complete sprinkler system, elevators, drive-up entry portico, landscaping and interior trim and finishes. The building's interior show off quartz counters, wood trim in the dining areas and a bistro.
Set next to the main building, independent living cottages feature two-bedroom layouts "designed to help residents achieve a sense of independence, comfort and safety."
The Blake owns communities in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and South Carolina specializing in "top-quality" assisted living and memory care services for older adults.
The Blake at Baxter Village is the fourth project that Frampton has built with project developer Cardinal Ventures. Expected completion is May 2019.
