Charlestonians join The Cassina Group downtown and in Mount Pleasant

Agents versed in business and finance recently joined a technology-focused real estate firm.

Caroline Long Parnell and William Barnwell, both Realtors, signed up with Charleston-based The Cassina Group. The Lowcountry natives claim lengthy experience in real estate.

Parnell, a graduate of Ashley Hall School and business administration major at Charleston Southern University, commenced her real estate career in 2001. During the past 17 years, she's represented buyers and sellers in residential and commercial transactions while honing in on home sales. She is an active member of St. Andrews Church in Mount Pleasant and serves on the Parent-Teacher Association board of Belle Hall Elementary.

A Porter-Gaud School graduate, Barnwell earned his real estate finance degree from Clemson University. In his off hours, Barnwell likes golf, boating and going to local sporting events.

Former legal assistant signs on with Upstate realty

Coldwell Banker Caine recently brought on a new associate at its Greenville office who has raised a family and spent time in law.

The realty signed Sally Ballentine as a residential sales agent. Before joining the Upstate company, she spent more than a decade as a real estate agent for local builders.

According to Coldwell Banker Caine, she's been involved in "running the household as a busy mom" and working for years as a legal assistant. She has a broad range of experience serving people and is thrilled to bring her talent to her Realtor position, the company says.

The firm says Ballentine is grateful for the opportunities real estate has given her to meet people. "She enjoys coaching her clients through their transactions as she works to make the process stress-free," the agency says. In her spare time, she volunteers in Greenville County schools.

Host of associates team up with Charleston Metro Homes

A steadily-growing real estate company hooked up with four agents who've built up home sales experience as well as backgrounds as varied as funeral director and stock broker.

The associates who chose Charleston Metro Homes include Chris Burdick, Tom Shrewsbury, Tapp Palmer and Stephen Sumner.

Burdick, the agency says, shows a "history of success" in the music and computer technology field. "This diverse background enables Chris to apply both creativity and rigorous market analysis to his career in real estate," the agency says. Shrewsbury says he can help clients in purchasing their next home by knowing the area inside and out "including all the neighboring amenities that matter most to you," and criteria for an ideal home. The Realtor also can help list a home by advertising the property, showing it to prospective buyers, negotiating the purchase contract, arranging financing, oversee inspections, handle paperwork and supervise closings. Palmer, born in Memphis, spent his childhood on his family’s farm in Marianna, Arkansas. That's where he "learned firsthand what hard work meant from age 10 through graduation." Palmer attended his family’s alma mater, the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and remains a die-hard Razorback fan.

After college he returned to Memphis and worked with Paine Webber & Associates as a stockbroker. He earned rookie of the year and was recognized as "top producer, surpassing sales numbers of many of the firm's veterans. He found that selling was "a natural talent." That lead him to a successful career in Atlanta for Raymond James & Associates. Afterwards, he started his own venture capital firm, Trinity Investment Services, Inc., raising millions of dollars as a savvy entrepreneur.

He sold plenty of successful companies for years. Palme brought real estate knowledge and experience throughout his business dealings in the past more than 20 years. According to Charleston Metro Homes, he has "fireball energy, charismatic personality, strong work ethic and passion for helping others",  which makes him a strong addition to the agency's Mount Pleasant office. He's lived in Mount Pleasant for 11 years.

Sumner brings attention to detail and "a desire for client satisfaction and care." The Realtor, a lifelong Mount Pleasant resident, knows Charleston and the surrounding areas well, the brokerage says. He has "the ability to help clients" find their ideal home and brings knowledge of the "constantly changing trends on the real estate market."

He was raised in Mount Pleasant's Old Village and attended local schools. He graduated from mortuary college as a licensed S.C. funeral director and embalmer and practiced the profession for more than 25 years. Sumner left the funeral industry to purse a career in real estate. He's been a member of Charleston Trident Association of Realtors, National Association of Realtors and Multiple Listing Service for the past 10 years.
