Tiny details can be the sparks that differentiate a home that leads you to mumble, “wow,” from a house that encourages you to shout, “Wow!”
Indeed, properties can rise in similarly planned neighborhoods, sport the same square footage and include an identical number of bedrooms. They can each showcase broad porches, two-car garages and panoramic views.
Yet one home comes off as nothing special while the other shines.
In the case of 529 Country Place Road, maybe there’s no boring twin. But there is very definitely a standout model.
“Just the detail on this house,” says Chuck Mimms, broker-in-charge of Sand Dollar Real Estate and listing agent with wife Edy Mimms.
Take for instance the second level “Jack and Jill” bathroom with connecting bedrooms that possesses what Chuck Mimms jokingly refers to as an “industrial” farm sink. The owners installed the oversized metal receptacle so they could comfortably bathe their children as infants.

Michael Kim and his wife Kari own the property, living there with their three children and dog Cleo. Michael Kim says the two-story house in the upper crust Hibben neighborhood was about 80 percent finished when they got into it in 2005, and they were able to add personalized spiffs.

From the entrance, stairs lead to a wide front porch. Inside, 529 Country Place Road incorporates numerous perks, including:

Off the first floor is a porch and stairs that lead to the backyard. There’s also a patio, landscaped lawn and detached two-car garage with entry bays facing a back alley.
“If someone wants to do it, you could put in a room (in the garage), absolutely you could,” Kim says.
A buyer would also benefit from the property’s proximity to Belle Hall Elementary and other schools, Interstate 526 off Long Point Road and amenities within the community, including a park in Hibben and swimming pool and clubhouse on Belle Hall Parkway.
Being a newer subdivision, there’s another “cool thing in the neighborhood: sidewalks,” Mimms says.
The house stands toward the middle of the Hibben enclave. Heading north in Mount Pleasant, take Johnnie Dodds Boulevard (U.S. Highway 17) and turn left at the second traffic light onto Mathis Ferry Road.
Follow Mathis Ferry Road about three miles to Whipple Road and veer left. Continue on Whipple Road to Long Point Road. Make another left. Then turn right on Belle Hall Parkway. Go close to a mile and steer left on Hibbens Grant Boulevard. Make a right on Bermuda Towne Road, then a left on Country Place Road. Ahead on the right is 529 Country Place Road.
